ABOUT US
The Brazilian Network of Science Journalists and Communicators (RedeComCiência) is a non-profit organization which gathers professionals and enthusiasts interested in debating and improving the quality of science communication in Brazil.
WHAT WE DO
We provide an institutional framework for capacity-building initiatives to support the work of science journalists, press officers, researchers and other professionals interested in science communication. Sharing ideas and opportunities is among the main goals of our active community of members, through our multiple channels and platforms.
WHY WE DO IT
Covering science and its multiple dimensions is a constant challenge. Science communication must go beyond the idea of simply decoding scientific jargon: it must interpret results and scrutinise the consequences of the scientific endeavour, providing audiences with a critical understanding of how science shapes our present and our future at the national and global level. In a world of ever-increasing complexity, science journalists and communicators are key to help audiences understand the difference between relevant information and vested interests.

JOURNALISTS
Professionals covering science for different media outlets: newspapers, magazines, radios, TV channels and others.
PRESS OFFICERS
Communication professionals who work as press officers at public and private institutions dedicated to science and research.
SCIENTISTS
Scientists and researchers interested in science communication in its multiple dimensions.
STUDENTS
Students interested in learning more about and engaging in the field of science communication.
COMMUNICATORS
Influencers who produce content related to science in different platforms and formats.
MEETINGS
We hold monthly meetings and everyone is welcome to join us. If you want to learn more about our activities and be part of the science communication community in Brazil, please do get in touch. Our meetings are held in the city of São Paulo and the ones who cannot attend personally are welcome to join us via Skype.
